Today, Thursday 30th May, Dublin, An Taoiseach Mr Enda Kenny T.D. met seven of the world’s most innovative and ambitious healthcare start-ups taking part in HealthXL Dublin Global Gathering Investor Day in Trinity Biomedical Building, Pearse Street @Health_XL #HealthXL #HXLGlobalGathering.

Seven world class entrepreneurs from Finland, US, Australia, Ghana, Canada and Ireland pitched next generation technologies to a 300+ capacity crowd of key angel investors (including; SOS Ventures, Silicon Valley Banks, Delta Partners, Aberdare Ventures, Cleveland Clinic, Oyster Capital, Highland Capital Partners, SROne), HealthXL mentors and start-up community to secure investment at the explosive event in Dublin’s thriving tech district.

HealthXL Dublin, powered by Startupbootcamp is the first truly global digital health mentor network. The first programme, which commenced earlier this year, is supported by a network of investors, entrepreneurs and sponsors spanning the globe. The global team selects the sharpest and most exciting thought leaders helping to create and nurture innovative ideas and technologies to transform the world’s healthcare systems.

A gathering of inspirational talks and enlightening technologies from global influencers, investors and founders filled the event key note and panel sessions including;

· “The Digital Health Revolution”, with John Nosta - Top ranked health and medicine influencer, advocate of digital health and author of health critical.

· “Will Corporates lead or follow” Investor panel with Barry O'Brien, Silicon Valley Banks; David Gibson, GSK; Gary Fingerhut, Cleveland Clinic and Nancy Staisey - IBM Healthcare.

· “Digital Health in Emerging Markets” Ashifi Gogo (CEO Sproxil) Founder of technology assisting users to verify unique identification codes; described by former United States President Bill Clinton as a “genuinely remarkable achievement”.

Martin Kelly, HealthXL founding partner and IBM Venture Capital Group Partner (EMEA), speaking about the accelerator said; “Only a few months ago we selected a group of early stage start-ups to join our team and today we have seven revolutionary world-class innovators. HealthXL is the first accelerator to have a global agenda and we are passionate about bringing extraordinary people and technologies together to transform Healthcare. We are already looking towards the future and want to explore new avenues and secure new partnerships to continue our global campaign”.

In 2012, investment in digital health increased by 46%, with a large focus on companies in accelerator programme’s. 2013 is set to be a record year for the sector which continues to thrive as a result of innovative founders and savvy investors. As part of the event, fifty of the biggest names in digital health ‘the fastest growing global market sector’were invited to take part in an inaugural ‘HealthXL Founders Club’. The intimate event assembled global founders, top ranked influencers, World leading VCs to meet HealthXL’s start-up teams and connect, engage and debate someof the biggest issues on the global agenda.

The Dublin initiative is supported by Enterprise Ireland, speaking at the event Naghmeh Reilly, Senior Marketing Executive Enterprise Ireland added; “Enterprise Ireland has been involved with HealthXL from the very beginning.
