Get your business ready for the new data protection laws

Could your business afford a €2m fine because of a data breach? The proposed EU regulation changes to the data protection laws will increase the compliance obligations of all Irish business and introduce fines of up to 2% of global turnover for any offender.

Leading IT solutions provider, Zinopy along with technology partners, Citrix Systems, Check Point Software Technologies and Boldon James will hold a seminar, on Wednesday 22nd May in the Aviva Stadium, to examine the proposed changes to the data protection laws and outline how they will affect businesses operating in Ireland.

With increased responsibility being placed on data controllers to comply with the regulations, it is paramount organisations of all sizes understand their obligations. The new laws are expected to come into force before 2015, meaning Irish businesses only have 18 months to ensure they are prepared.

Attendees at this event will hear from leading industry experts who will discuss:

In addition, guest speaker David Cahill, senior information security specialist at AIB will discuss why the bank made the decision to deploy mobile device management (MDM). He will also outline the data loss prevention (DLP) initiatives AIB has undertaken to secure its corporate and customer data, best practices applied within the bank and the lessons they have learned over the years.

Conor Flynn, managing director of ISAS will also be on hand to discuss how to prevent data leakage, one of the largest information security issues facing organisations today. Conor will examine how organisations can use data classification and document marking to ensure they can keep track of all information held by the company.
