Today (Saturday, 27th July) at the University of Ulster Belfast Campus, 3D Dojo kicked off for the first time. The class welcomed 25 students of all ages into the Computer Animation Research Lab at the University for their first taste of 3D modelling and animation.
The class was led by Michael Davis jr (16) and supported by Professor Greg Maguire, Michael Davis snr from CSIT and Matt Johnston of Digital Circle. The first task was the effectively model a "banana" from a simple cylinder. This class will be covering more modelling, animation textures and rigs. The software used during the class was Blender, a free, open source, 3D modelling package (available for Windows, Mac and Linux).
