Founder Tesla, SpaceX and PayPal Elon Musk & An Taoiseach Enda Kenny to close the sell-out Web Summit.

Perhaps the greatest entrepreneur and innovator of our time, 42 year-old Elon Musk, founder of Paypal, Tesla Motors and commercial space travel outfit SpaceX has been confirmed today to close out this year’s sold out Web Summit.

Musk, who has been voted one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People In The World, will be joined on stage by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny. The Taoiseach will also ring the opening bell of the NASDAQ market live on stage at 13:30 IST on October 30th, this first time the US exchange has been opened from Ireland.

Musk founded PayPal in his twenties and was the company’s largest shareholder when it was sold to eBay in 2002. He has since gone on to disrupt the automotive industry with Tesla. Tesla produces fully electric sports and luxury saloon cars and the company held its initial public offering in 2010. He is also the founder of SpaceX, the only private company ever to return a spacecraft from low-Earth orbit, which it first accomplished in December 2010.

“Elon Musk is the greatest entrepreneur of his generation. He is disrupting numerous industries simultaneously in a way that few have ever even attempted. To have him speak at the Web Summit is a great honour. I’m delighted than the Taoiseach will also join him on stage to close our largest summit yet,” said Paddy Cosgrave Web Summit founder and CEO.

The Web Summit is a celebration of the brightest minds in technology. This year over 10,000 attendees will travel from 100 countries to attend the Summit.  The Summit has opened up to include over 50 events across the Dublin city including a Night Summit.

Musk will speak at 6pm on October 31st on the main stage at the Web Summit in the RDS, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4. In special celebration of the announcement of Elon Musk, a final 25 tickets to the Summit are available on
