The Emerging Company category award was sponsored by Tenego Partnering and presented by Donagh Kiernan, Founder & CEO of Tenego Partnering and Edel Creely, Chair of the ISA and Managing Director of Trilogy Technologies to Bill Walsh, Founder & CEO, and Declan Friel, CTO of Aspire Technology. ‘We, at Aspire, are proud to be recognised for our efforts in building a company focused on delivering the best results to our mobile operator customers and our technology partners. We have an exciting view ahead of us and we are ready, ‘Bill Walsh, Founder & CEO of Aspire Technology. Over 65 of Ireland’s leading software and digital technology firms entered this year’s awards and the winners were announced at an event on Friday in Dublin which was attended by more than 450 Irish technology companies.
Enterprise Ireland CEO Julie Sinnamon was the keynote speaker at the awards and spoke of how Irish SMEs can grow and scale internationally. ISA is the Ibec representative body for over 160 Irish digital and software technology companies. The indigenous software technology sector has almost 730 companies, employing more than 10,000 people, with sales in excess of €1.8billion every year. In her speech on the night, ISA Chair and Trilogy Technologies MD, Edel Creely spoke of the important contribution small and medium sized companies bring to Ireland while also drawing on barriers to growth with which include access to finance and skills. ‘We represent a community of innovative, scaling companies that want to grow, to export internationally and to create sustainable jobs in Ireland.
However, to ensure we can continue to scale we need enablement for growth and the elimination of all barriers to success which includes greater access to finance for expansion and talent to drive growth. ‘Mid-stage technology companies, in particular, find it very difficult to access funding from traditional sources to scale globally. ISA is addressing this challenge through ongoing dialogue with the pillar banks and venture capital communities.
In terms of skills, we are driving policy changes and developing multi-collaborative initiatives with educators to influence Ireland’s attractiveness for mobile talent. ‘I wish to congratulate Aspire Technology on attaining the prestigious accolade of ISA Emerging Company of the Year. This year, we received an influx of extremely talented and worthy nominations.
The quality of entrants proves to investors at home and abroad that a wealth of knowledge, expertise and incentives exist here. ‘Aspire Technology stood out for their contribution to the Irish software industry. I wish them well as they continue to develop and grow their company,’
