New Irish Job matching app launches

A new job matching and upskilling app will be officially launched tomorrow, Thursday, 3rd November, at 9.30am at a breakfast briefing in the Penthouse of the Dean Hotel, Harcourt Street, Dublin 2. The HiUp app is free to jobseekers and employers, and was founded by one of Ireland’s leading internet entrepreneurs, Brendan Kavanagh.

A serial entrepreneur, Kavanagh is aiming to kill off recruitment agencies with the app. At tomorrow’s launch, he will outline how HiUp works and his ambitions for its growth. He will be joined by:

Hurling legend Michael “Babs” Keating, who is a member of the HiUp team.
TV personality Baz Ashmawy.
Social media star James Kavanagh.
Frank Gleeson, COO of Aramark, one of the companies successfully using HiUp to recruit employees.
Scott O’Neill, an employee of Aramark who was recruited in recent weeks through the HiUp app.
Representatives of the Construction Industry Federation and the Restaurants Association of Ireland.

The value of Ireland’s recruitment sector is estimated at €1.73 billion. Speaking in advance of HiUp’s launch, Brendan Kavanagh said: “HiUp matches employers directly with candidates, completely cutting out the need for recruitment agencies. Our technology filters candidates in the exact same way recruiters claim to - but we don’t charge fees to either employers or jobseekers.

“HiUp is going to kill off the recruitment agency sector entirely and that’s a very welcome development - as far as we’re concerned, recruitment agencies simply waste employers’ and jobseekers’ money and time. A major shake-up of the recruitment industry is long overdue.”

Virtual Jobs Fair

In addition to the official launch of the app at the Dean Hotel, HiUp will be in UCD tomorrow, collaborating with UCD Students’ Union on a virtual jobs fair and encouraging students to subscribe to HiUp to find Christmas jobs and part-time work.
