Munster Rugby Line Out for Internet Safety with Trend Micro

As avid users of technology, young people are being asked by cloud security firm Trend Micro and partners, Munster Rugby, to share their digital lives through the competition, “What’s Your Story 2017”.  The aim of the video competition is to encourage youth awareness of digital privacy and promote online safety by empowering young people to create a 2-minute video using the theme “If you could change one thing about your digital life, what would it be?”

Munster Rugby have been very supportive of the “What’s Your Story” competition and Trend Micro’s BeSmart internet safety campaign, which educates parents, teachers and young people in a positive way about online privacy and digital safety.  Open to schools, groups and individuals over 8 years old, video entries must be received by 4 April 2017, when public viewing commences and runs until the final judging on 24 April 2017.

“Giving young people a voice to express themselves digitally is at the heart of the ‘What’s your Story’ competition”, says Nicola Buckley, What’s Your Story Program Manager at Trend Micro EMEA.  “The competition is a unique opportunity for young people to tell us how they feel about their digital lives and what they would change potentially. ‘What’s Your Story?’ provides a platform for young people to share a positive, online dialogue with their peers everywhere. We’re really looking forward to seeing this year’s entries from schools, groups and individuals all over Ireland.”

Now in its 7th year, the Trend Micro “What’s Your Story” competition entries will be reviewed by a panel of experts in the fields of internet safety, media literacy, and technology from organisations like WebWise, Young Irish Film Makes, TY Ireland, ReachOut, Facebook and Twitter.

  • Overall winner prize – €2,000 (Individual or School or Group)
  • Age 8-12 winner prize for an Individual, School and Group category winners – €1,000 each
  • Age 13+ winner prize for an Individual, School and Group category winners – €1,000 each
